It is the result of a worm, but gets its name due to the ring-shaped rash that causes. Ringworm is a contagious infection that is spread by skin to skin contact and spreads in school-age children through contact with their peers. If your child has ringworm, the infection can be treated at home. Most infections are cleared within two to four weeks with consistent treatment. If you are unsure whether your child has ringworm, contact your pediatrician or dermatologist before treating the infection.

What to do:

  1. Wash the area affected by ringworm with soap and water. Also wash the skin around the rash. Dry the area.
  2. Apply anti-fungal cream on the rash and its surroundings. The Anti-fungal creams which are contains miconazole or clotrimazole are ideal for ringworm treatment. You can also use the cream which is contains terbinafine as anti-fungal crem for your children. All those anti-fungal creams are available without a prescription.  
  3. Wash bedding and linens child. Items must be washed daily, as long as the child has the infection.  
  4. Take your child to a doctor if symptoms do not improve within four weeks. Your doctor may prescribe your child oral anti-fungal.

Tips for avoid Ringworm:


  • Please take care your child and do not allow them to participate such activities which may help to spread the infection to others. If you do not see results in two weeks, please take medical assistance.
  • If your child has ringworm on the scalp please take physician help early. You should not try to treat the infection at home.
  • Prevent Ringworm encouraging your child to avoid sharing clothing, headgear and other personal items.
  • All cloths and wearing instruments of your child must be clean and dry.
  • Keep your child safe from your ringworm fungus affected pets.

Thanks for giving information on how to treat children who are affected by ringworm. Adults can take proper care when they are suffering from ringworm as they know the precautions but if children are affected by ringworm then special care should be taken to cure the fungal disease.
